West-Coast Expressway

PROJECTS

The West Coast Expressway (WCE) is a major highway project in Malaysia, envisioned to enhance connectivity and spur economic development along the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Once completed, it will stretch approximately 233 kilometers, connecting the northern and southern regions of the west coast.

The WCE is designed to alleviate traffic congestion on existing routes, particularly the North-South Expressway, by providing an alternative route for commuters and freight transportation. It is expected to significantly reduce travel time between major cities and enhance accessibility to key industrial and commercial areas.

This expressway project involves various phases of construction, including the development of interchanges, bridges, and toll plazas, along with extensive land acquisition and infrastructure works. It is seen as a critical component of Malaysia’s infrastructure development plan, aimed at fostering regional growth and connectivity.

Additionally, the WCE is anticipated to facilitate tourism development along the west coast, offering travelers easier access to popular destinations and attractions. As one of the major infrastructure projects in Malaysia, the WCE underscores the government’s commitment to enhancing transportation networks and driving economic progress across the country.
